Playing to learn place value

Seeing the engagement of my students doing math, I would say they love learning while playing.  They were learning to add 1s, 10s, 100s and 1000s while playing with a dice.  Each turn, they were to roll a dice, choose which 1s, 10s, 100s or 1000s they wanted to multiply with and they were to keep a running total.  They worked very well for the entire period.  It does not seem to matter if it is 1st period of the day, just before lunch or last period of the day, they love math.  The attitude towards math is one of fun, and excitement.

From grade 4 number sense and numeration:

read, represent, compare, and order whole numbers to 10 000, decimal numbers to tenths,
and simple fractions, and represent money amounts to $100;
